FAFSA and Dream Act Applications 10/1/26-3/2/27

Posted Date: 10/01/26 (03:15 PM)

Hello Class of 2027!

The 2027-2028 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and California Dream Act Application (CADAA) for undocumented students are now open! This is the first step in applying for financial aid after high school. The priority deadline to qualify for CalGrants is March 2nd 2027.

Recent changes in California law now require graduating seniors to complete and submit a FAFSA or Dream Act application no matter what they plan to do after graduation. If a student is strongly opposed to submitting one, they will need to complete an opt-out form. You may pick one up from Mrs. Burke in the main office. Parent/guardian signature is required if the student is under the age of 18.

We will be hosting a Cash for College Night on Wednesday December 2nd from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Computer Lab (Room 33). Bilingual financial aid professionals from Mendocino College will be available to assist students and parents/guardians with filling out and submitting their applications and answer any questions. It does not matter where students are planning to attend after high school. They will help everyone with filling out and completing their applications.

Both the student and parent(s)/guardian(s) must have their own FSA ID in order to "sign" and submit the FAFSA. Please be sure to apply for an FSA ID prior to completing your FAFSA or you will not be able to submit. To create an FSA ID go here: https://studentaid.gov/help/fsa-id
